In Gen. 26:1, it says that there was a famine in the land. In verses 12-13 it says that Isaac planted in that famine, and reaped 100 fold. That verse says that the Lord blessed him, he became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. What an incredible story. We need to remember that when we are obedient to our Lord, we provide Him the opportunity to bless us. Sometimes it seems all we are doing is so futile, like "planting in a famine." If you are walking through what looks to be barren land, nothing seems to be productive, and you are struggling in so many areas, just remember...he planted in famine and received 100 times what he planted.
God still does that. He still produces miracles out of the impossibilities of life. As we walk humbly and obediently before Him, we allow Him the opportunity to again provide miracles out of our "famines." What difficulties are you facing that can become opportunities for God to provide...miracles in a your famine?
